Warendorf was established in 1973 by Rudolf Miele and Peter Zinkann. At that time, they named the company Miele. These two founders felt that people should treat the kitchen as a separate entity that combines furniture elements and high-quality appliances. With a lot of hard work and persistence, they made their vision a reality.
In 1986, they came up with the lacquering line, which made it easy to offer a variety of hues in NCS and RAL color range for textured and gloss surfaces.
In 1992, they set environmental standards. The company was certified in accordance with the quality management system of DIN EN ISO 9001. It was the initial kitchen manufacturing company to initiate an environmental management system. In 1966 it was further certified by the DIN EN ISO 14001 international environment standard.
In 1997, they premiered their first freestyle kitchen. They revolutionalized the hitherto conservative kitchen with the Freestyle kitchen. The new kitchen model was mobile and modular, which made it reliable for the modern lifestyle.
In 1999, the Warendorf team of experts produced its distinctive folding carcase. They proved that everything is possible with technology irrespective of how impossible and hopeless an idea may appear.
In 2005 Miele sold its manufacturing department to AFG, a building and supplies professional. AFG was then the owner of the Arbonia Forster Swiss holding company.
In 2009, Philippe Starck partnered with Warendorf and premiered Starck by WARENDORF. Philippe believed in producing intelligent designs on all products. In partnership with Warendorf, they started producing kitchens based on modern and flexible society needs.
In 2010, Miele officially changed to Warendorf and started making their kitchens in Warendorf. The actual change of name took place in September 2010 where Miele - DIe Küche transitioned to WARENDORF - Die Küche. Their 25 years of expertise and quality, however, remained. They adopted a new design and approach.
In 2011, Piet Boon, an exceptional Dutch designer, started working with WARENDORF. Piet is well known and respected for his eminence and his choice of quality materials. He, alongside WARENDORF, came up with a completely new kitchen design that well represented traditional craftsmanship.
In 2018, WARENDORF underwent a complete corporate restructuring. Stefan Hofemeier became the managing director. He came up with a highly skilled and motivated team to help him run the company. Shortly after he took over, the company started manufacturing premium kitchens and exporting their products to other countries.
However, the company has not been doing very well in the recent past, and it is almost non-existent.
